Jessica Baldachino - Miss Gibraltar 2012

GIBRALTAR - Jessica Louise Baldachino (24) was crowned Miss Gibraltar 2012 at the St Michael’s Cave last Saturday April 14, 2012. She will represent Gibraltar in Miss World 2012 in Ordos, Inner Mongolia on August 18.

The first runner-up was Kerrianne Massetti and the second runner-up was Christina Ainsworth. Nine contestants competed for the national pageant that celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The 2012 Miss Gibraltar Pageant will be held on Saturday 21st April 2012, at St Michael’s Cave and is being produced by Stage One Productions. The beauty pageant for selecting the country's representatives to the Miss World 2012. The reigning Miss Gibraltar 2011 - Michelle Gillingwater Pedersen (photo above) will crown to her successor as Miss Gibraltar 2012.

Michelle currently works as a Marketing and Events Assistant for a Swiss private bank. She hopes to further her career in the private banking sector. Michelle plays the saxophone and enjoys horse riding and baking - her grandmother’s cooking is her favourite.

INTERVIEW

Tell us a little something about your Country ?

Gibraltar is a beautiful and vibrant country. It is at the most southern point of Europe opposite Africa. Gibraltar is a very small country with around 30,000 inhabitants. Gibraltar is a peninsular mostly surrounded by sea and a stone-throw from Spain. There is a wide variety of culture and religion.

Future ambitions ?

To further my career in the private banking sector.

Describe yourself

I am motivated, committed, determined and a hard-working person who is very loyal, especially to those that I love and care about. I am a traditional woman who respects family values and the importance of integrity within oneself.

Personal Motto?

Don’t allow fear to prevent you from pursuing your dreams.

Favourite food ?

I particularly love Italian food however my grandmother’s cooking definitely takes the leads.

Favourite Music / Books ?

My favourite songs are ‘Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper, ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ by Foreigner, ‘Living on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi and ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston.

Do you have any pets ?

I have a dog called Sandi and she is considered the sixth member of my family. She is a cross poodle and shih-tzu.

Any other interesting facts ?

Horse riding, modelling and baking.

What is the proudest moment of your life or most memorable day?

My most memorable day was the day my boyfriend of 5 and half years got down on one and knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes!
